Baseball Game Preview: Picayune Maroon Tide vs. St. Martin Yellow Jackets

The Picayune Maroon Tide will be taking part in a tournament against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Picayune will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Biloxi on Tuesday. Picayune blew past Biloxi 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Maroon Tide have posted since March 19, 2024.

Mason Bayless was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Parker Helton, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Picayune was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, St. Martin took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Harrison, sneaking past 3-1. The victory was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.
