It was a good run, but Westlake unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to the Lake Travis Cavaliers on the road by a 67-50 margin. The Chaparrals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 53-51.

Adrian Mathis was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points along with six assists and five steals for Lake Travis. Another player making a difference was Kyle Kihlberg, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Westlake's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 21-7. As for Lake Travis, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-16 record this season.

Westlake and Lake Travis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Westlake (ranked 76th) will meet Del Valle (ranked 356th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Lake Travis will square off against Akins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday up 353 places (188 vs. 541).
