Volleyball Recap: Sunset Knights vs. Palmetto Panthers
Sunset lost against Palmetto back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sunset Knights fell just short of the Palmetto Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sunset started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-10.
Makquiel Velez paced Sunset's offense, picking up 12 kills. Velez got some help from Uziel Chaparro and his 21 assists. Johan Lorenzo controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Sunset now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Palmetto, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Sunset didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Hialeah Educational Academy on the 13th. As for Palmetto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Varela on the 12th.
