Softball Recap: Castlewood Warriors vs. Colman-Egan C-E Hawks        
        
		
            
 Castlewood waltzed into their contest  on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with  a   9-6  victory over the Colman-Egan C-E Hawks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Castlewood also won the last time the pair played  back in May of 2023.
  Claire Horn was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out ten batters over  seven innings while giving up  six earned runs off   11  hits (and only one walk). Horn has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. Horn was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-1 with a  stolen base, two  RBI,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Gracie Haug, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4.  Lilly Jacobsen was another key contributor,  going 3-for-3 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 On Colman-Egan's side,  Lanie Mousel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and seven unearned) runs on six hits.
 At the plate,  Savanna Schmidt was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kaitlyn Taggart, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Castlewood pushed their record up to 8-2 with that  win, which was their sixth straight  on the road dating back to last season. As for Colman-Egan, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last seven matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Castlewood will take on Avon at TBD on Saturday. As for Colman-Egan, they will stay at home for another  game and welcome Viborg/Hurley at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
