B District 1 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Pond Creek-Hunter extended the longest winning streak in B District 1 (8 Man) this week by beating Medford, 60-12. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Panthers.
Seiling was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fifth in the league. The Wildcats beat Waukomis 90-54 earlier in the week.
Covington-Douglas's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Quenten Thayer threw for 129 and two touchdowns and Dylan Daugherty had 101 yards receiving. On the ground Thayer chipped in 167 yards. Gage Smith helped Covington-Douglas' passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
The Wildcats' Thayer and Daugherty have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thayer has thrown for 457 yards this season, while Daugherty, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has nine catches for 224 yards. Pond Creek-Hunter's Brady Krittenbrink leads the league in rushing yards with 775.
The marquee game in B District 1 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Ringwood and Covington-Douglas. The Red Devils enters the contest ranked 11th in the state, while the Wildcats ranks 14th.
David Kerr's team took down the Cardinals 60-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Trenton Grimes ran for 114 yards and caught two passes for 58 yards in the win.
