Basketball Recap: Kailey Richard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Charlotte Catholic over Butler

After flying high against Providence on Thursday, Charlotte Catholic came back down to earth. The Charlotte Catholic Cougars came up short against the Butler Bulldogs on Friday, falling 64-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since December 14, 2024.

Charlotte Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kailey Richard, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Megan Shea, who earned six points and nine rebounds.

Charlotte Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Butler, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.

Charlotte Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-57 win against South Caldwell on the 25th. As for Butler, they have also already played their next matchup, a 52-39 victory against Myers Park on the 25th.
