Volleyball Game Preview: Independence Blue Devils vs. Mogadore Wildcats

The Independence Blue Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Mogadore Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Independence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Columbia.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Independence was: they took every set by at least 17 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-8, 25-8.

Madelyn Mudra went supernova, getting nine aces and eight digs. Those nine aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Pichert, who had ten digs and two assists.

They weren't the only good servers: Independence was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Mogadore came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 3-0 win.

While Mogadore won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-14, 25-22.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Mogadore, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
