Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Symmes Valley Vikings

Eastern hasn't had much luck against Symmes Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Eastern Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Symmes Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Symmes Valley better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Eastern really get things going. Everything went Eastern's way against Oak Hill on Wednesday as Eastern made off with a 36-16 win.

Meanwhile, Symmes Valley earned a 55-47 victory over Northwest on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Eastern better keep an eye on Brenna Tibbs. She was instrumental in Symmes Valley's win, putting up 23 points. The dominant performance gave Tibbs a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlin Maynard, who posted 13 points.

Symmes Valley pushed their record up to 7-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Eastern, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Eastern came up short against Symmes Valley when the teams last played on January 13th, falling 54-41. Can Eastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
