Volleyball Recap: Fruitport Trojans vs. Mona Shores Sailors
Fruitport managed to slip by Mona Shores the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Trojans lost 3-0 to the Sailors on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since November 19, 2024.
The final score came out to 25-21, 25-17, 25-9.
Izabel Hanson-Wilbur paced Fruitport's offense, picking up seven kills. Hanson-Wilbur got some help from Emma Fecher and her ten assists. Emma Danicek controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Fruitport's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 23-11-1. As for Mona Shores, their win bumped their record up to 17-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fruitport will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grant at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Mona Shores, they will challenge Byron Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Sailors surely won't give up without a fight.
