Newport made up a huge gap compared to their last game against North Marion, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cubs blew past the Huskies 13-4 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cubs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Olivia Greenawald was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Addison Taylor was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Ivy Ruddiman was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple.
