Softball Game Preview: Central Lancers vs. Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers

The Central Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Philadelphia Academy Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Central made easy work of Science Leadership Academy and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Lancers have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Philadelphia Academy Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past String Theory 5-4.

Philadelphia Academy Charter pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Central took their win against Philadelphia Academy Charter in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
