Baseball Recap: Steele Canyon Takes a Loss

Steele Canyon was the 6-1 winner over Otay Ranch when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since March 26, 2025.

Julian Cervantes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caha Gavin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Steele Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Otay Ranch, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Steele Canyon has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against Bishop's on the 5th. As for Otay Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-3 loss against Mission Bay on the 5th.
