Baseball Recap: Carlsbad Comes Up Short

Carlsbad fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Argyle on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Argyle Eagles by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Lancers' first of the season.

Carlsbad got a good showing from Ian Fisher, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs Fisher has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Carlsbad saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rob Bering, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Benjamin Lopez was another, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Carlsbad fell to 2-1. As for Argyle, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlsbad will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Sage Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Argyle, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles take on the Falcons at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday.
