Baseball Recap: Paradise Valley Comes Up Short

The Paradise Valley Trojans didn't have quite enough to beat the Verrado Vipers on Tuesday and fell 5-3.

Drew England was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Paradise Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adair Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Paradise Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Verrado, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7-1 record this season.

While Paradise Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
