Thursday just wasn't the day for Dobbs Ferry's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hastings on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Meanwhile, Tuckahoe entered their tilt with Valhalla on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vikings 10-1. Considering the Tigers have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Connor Brice made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, Tuckahoe let Jay Romeo and Ben Silvestri run wild. Romeo went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Silvestri went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Silvestri has become a key player for Tuckahoe: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyler Pian, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Tuckahoe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Tuckahoe pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Dobbs Ferry, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
