Soccer Game Preview: Carlmont vs. South San Francisco

The Carlmont Scots will head out to challenge the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlmont will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Carlmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Half Moon Bay a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The Scots' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six matches.

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, South San Francisco was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 5-1 to San Mateo. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 853rd, while the Bearcats are ranked 409th).

Carlmont is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those eight matches. As for South San Francisco, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-2.

Carlmont took their win against South San Francisco in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 7-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlmont since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
