Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Sanger West

The Centennial Golden Hawks will face off against the Sanger West Hornets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Centennial's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Centennial fell victim to Saugus and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centurions. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Saugus are ranked 100th).

Meanwhile, Sanger West and Caruthers finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw last Monday. That draw made it three straight for Sanger West.

Their goal came courtesy of Matthew Velarde, who's now up to two this season.

Sanger West's draw gives them a new season record of 5-0-5. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3-3.
