Softball Recap: Bettye Davis East Anchorage Has No Trouble Against Chugiak

Bettye Davis East Anchorage barely beat Chugiak the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunderbirds put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-0 win on Saturday. Considering the Thunderbirds have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Sela Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Valley Wakefield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Izabella Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .480 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Bettye Davis East Anchorage's record is now 14-2. As for Chugiak, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-2.
