Moriah hasn't had much luck against Peru recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Nighthawks at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Moriah is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against AuSable Valley. The Vikings came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 5-2 on Monday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Peru took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Saranac with a sharp 15-1 win.
Jake Frechette and Kalib Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Frechette kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Smith tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Frechette went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Peru let Keegan Theriault and Deacon Whitmarsh run wild. Theriault got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Whitmarsh went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Theriault a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Linden Nolan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Peru was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saranac only posted a batting average of .125.
Moriah might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Peru in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
