Basketball Recap: McKinley Tech Trainers vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
On Friday, the McKinley Tech Trainers faced the Roosevelt Roughriders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech secured a 35-30 W over the Roughriders. For McKinley Tech, this counts as revenge for the 41-21 loss the Roughriders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
McKinley Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jemima Bomoyi, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Bomoyi also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamille Fisher, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
The victory got McKinley Tech back to even at 9-9. As for Roosevelt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley Tech will stay at home for another game and welcome the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked ninth, while the Trainers are ranked 17th). As for Roosevelt, they will be playing at home against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
