Basketball Recap: Laney Takes a Loss

Laney came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Butler Bulldogs, falling 71-43. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Laney still got an impressive performance from Raina Burns, who posted 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chiquita Gaffney, who put up six points and five boards.

Brayla Harris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Butler, going 9 for 17 on her way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Rania Curry was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Laney's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Butler, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Laney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 78-18 win against Glenn Hills on the 4th. As for Butler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-46 defeat against Josey on the 1st.
