Football Game Preview: Grand Prairie Gophers vs. Haltom Buffalos + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Xavier Clinton and Vudrico Roberson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Grand Prairie Gophers and the Haltom Buffalos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Prairie has given up an average of 49.4 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grand Prairie is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Martin last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Gophers were beaten by the Warriors 65-6. The matchup marked the Gophers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haltom). They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Lamar 44-43.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Roberson and Tayrone Thomas. Roberson had a great game last Friday and rushed for 153 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Thomas was balling out in the loss, rushing for 217 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry.

One reason for the win was Haltom's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kyle Parks and Micah McIntyre, who racked up four sacks between them. McIntyre also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Another thorn in Lamar's side was Keyan Parks, who made 16 total tackles and defended one pass.

Grand Prairie's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Haltom, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
