Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Westhope/Newburg's 17th in Last 19 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westhope/Newburg had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] Cougars as they made off with a 60-36 victory. The Sioux have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Walker Braaten was his usual excellent self, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 23 points and five rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Dayton Hawkins was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 13 points.

Westhope/Newburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They are 21-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Westhope/Newburg is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] and nudges their season record down to 19-6.
