Preview: South Point Red Raiders vs. Stuart W. Cramer Storm
South Point is 9-1 against the Storm since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Point Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Stuart W. Cramer Storm at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in South Point's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
South Point scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 92-59 win over Forestview. That looming 92-59 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Point yet this season.
South Point found their leader in underclassman Dylan Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Greyson Kines, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Stuart W. Cramer had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Gaston on Tuesday and snuck past 57-54. The win was just what Stuart W. Cramer needed coming off of a 68-39 defeat in their prior game.
Stuart W. Cramer relied on the efforts of Amari Littlejohn, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, and DJ Cross, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Littlejohn pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Makhi Brown, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
South Point is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Graham Williams and Taelan Whitley. Williams has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 15.4 points, 1.4 blocks, and 10.2 rebounds. For his part, Whitley has averaged 7.9 points, 3.2 blocks, and 7.7 rebounds.
South Point strolled past the Storm when the teams last played back in January by a score of 66-49. Will South Point repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
