Softball Recap: Dos Pueblos Wins Going Away Against Buena

After losing to Buena the last time they met, Dos Pueblos decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dos Pueblos Chargers put the hurt on the Buena Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Chargers have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaitlyn Ashby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Anastasia Brunner and Brooklyn Hedricks did most of the damage at the plate: Brunner scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Hedricks scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two runs gave Hedricks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Verkeniki Maniadi, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Dos Pueblos' win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Buena, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Dos Pueblos will take on San Marcos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Buena, they will square off against Ventura at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
