Baseball Recap: Mancelona Has No Trouble Against Pellston

Mancelona never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Pellston Hornets. The Ironmen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jayden Lanning made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ryan Naumcheff was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Lucas Keller, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Mancelona always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mancelona now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pellston, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
