Softball Game Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. Lawrenceville Indians

Washington is 0-6 against Lawrenceville since May of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hatchets will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Washington is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Evansville Bosse, falling 15-7.

Ellycia Shartzer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Lawrenceville lost 9-2 to Mt. Carmel on Monday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lawrenceville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lawrenceville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Washington might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Lawrenceville in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Hatchets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
