South Hills came tearing into Monday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Alta Loma Braves a 4-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly four runs.

Elias Reyes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Hills' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Robert Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave Brown a new career-high.

South Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alta Loma only posted a batting average of .136.

South Hills' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Alta Loma, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

South Hills will square off against Crescenta Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 2.5, the Falcons 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Alta Loma will be paying especially close attention to South Hills' contest: after South Hills faces off against Crescenta Valley, they'll take on Alta Loma again at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
