Volleyball Game Preview: Center Cougars vs. Lincoln Fighting Zebras

The Center Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Center came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Antelope.

Center was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Lincoln came up short against Bear River on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Fighting Zebras were not able to get on the board.

Lincoln took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 25-23.

Lincoln's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Center couldn't quite get it done against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can Center avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
