Baseball Game Preview: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Westerville South Wildcats

For the second straight game, Big Walnut will face off against Westerville South. The Golden Eagles will square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Big Walnut 2.2, Westerville South 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Big Walnut took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Westerville South by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Nick Weiss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Nolan Buirley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Brady Taylor also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Big Walnut hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Westerville South's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Big Walnut, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
