Baseball Recap: St. Johns Extends Winning Streak to Three

While St. Johns's win against Chinle wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Redskins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brennon Leslie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Waite, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for St. Johns: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise. Juan Calderon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

St. Johns' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chinle, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.

St. Johns didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-2 victory against Pinon on the 4th. As for Chinle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-9 win against Miyamura on the 5th.
