Baseball Game Preview: Augusta Red Devils vs. Midland Mustangs

Augusta is 0-7 against Midland since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Augusta Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Midland Mustangs at 12:24 p.m. Neither Augusta nor Midland posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Augusta is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Bald Knob, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Midland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Salem.

Midland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunner Buie, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Brayden York also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Midland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Augusta suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Midland when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Augusta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
