Recap: Cleveland Central Wolves vs. Holmes County Central Jaguars
The Cleveland Central Wolves lost against the Holmes County Central Jaguars back in October of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cleveland Central was just a hair shy of victory and fell 29-28 to Holmes County Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cleveland Central in their matchups with Holmes County Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Garrison Davis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 238 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Antravian Pernell did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 145 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Holmes County Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Terrance Hibbler Jr. and his two sacks.
Cleveland Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Holmes County Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleveland Central will challenge Yazoo City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yazoo City comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Holmes County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Canton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
