Softball Recap: Henryville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Henryville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Clarksville Generals. The Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Generals, too.

Emma McAfee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gaby Comer, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kyleigh Lienhart, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Henryville's record now sits at 11-9. As for Clarksville, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Henryville will host Crawford County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Clarksville, they will welcome Scottsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors and Warriorettes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.56 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
