Basketball Recap: Christian Putnam's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Irene/Wakonda over Corsica/Stickney

Irene/Wakonda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Corsica/Stickney Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Putnam, who posted eight points and ten boards. Putnam is becoming a predictor of Irene/Wakonda's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Hayden Hansen, who en route to 15 points.

Irene/Wakonda's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Corsica/Stickney, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Irene/Wakonda does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Corsica/Stickney, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-43 loss against Parkston on the 24th.
