Soccer Recap: Estero Victorious

After losing to Cape Coral the last time they met, Estero decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Estero Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Cape Coral Seahawks on Monday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Seahawks are ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Estero's one-goal win came courtesy of Gabi Jewell, who's now up to six this season.

The win made it two in a row for Estero and bumps their season record up to 9-3-1. As for Cape Coral, they now have a losing record at 8-9-3.

Estero will be playing in front of their home fans against Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Estero is facing Gulf Coast at the right time seeing as Gulf Coast is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Cape Coral, they will take on Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.
