It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but South San Francisco ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Mercy Bears 11-10. Surprisingly, this marked the Warriors' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Sydney Semans made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Semans was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Jade Quintanilla, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Phoebe Oseguera was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
South San Francisco is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Mercy, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
South San Francisco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-3 win against El Camino on the 16th. Mercy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
