League recap: Rifle tops Conifer to extend winning streak

Rifle extended the longest winning streak in 3A Western Slope this week by beating Conifer, 38-7. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Dalton Hannigan was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 202 yards as Palisade bested Moffat County. Caden Woods also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.

Sorensen was the best wideout in the league this week as the Demons defeated the Bulldogs. Sorensen racked up five receptions for 93 yards. Henry Hill helped Glenwood Springs' passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.

JOHN WALCK put up the best numbers through the air as Montezuma-Cortez lost to Eagle Valley. He finished with a total of seven completions for 160 yards and two touchdowns. WALCK's favorite target this week was Keegan Ralstin, who caught two passes for 65 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Travis Lundin of Glenwood Springs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1291. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, Rifle's Ryan Moeller has rushed for 1633 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chris Black. The Delta star has 29 catches for 597 yards.

The Bulldogs' Hannigan is a mere 90 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 102 carries Hannigan has accumulated 910 yard this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Palisade takes on the Panthers. As it stands, John Arledge's team is in second, while Delta is in fourth.

Damon Wells' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 705 from 1,787. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 38-7 victory over the Lobos last week.
