Softball Recap: Otto-Eldred Takes a Loss

Otto-Eldred extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-5. They came up short against the Northern Potter Panthers, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Tuesday.

As for Northern Potter, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Northern Potter's part, Jaylyn Williammee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Williammee has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Haynes, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Taylor Knowles was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Otto-Eldred will take on Coudersport at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Terrors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Northern Potter, they will face off against Cowanesque Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
