Basketball Recap: Marysville-Pilchuck Takes a Loss

Marysville-Pilchuck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost to the Sehome Mariners on the road by a 69-54 margin. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-46 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Marysville-Pilchuck lost, don't look at Michael Rangel-smathers. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-17 en route to 31 points and four steals. That was a full 57.4% of Marysville-Pilchuck's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Skylar Hayward was another key player, putting up six points.

Marysville-Pilchuck's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Sehome, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.

Marysville-Pilchuck does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sehome, they will challenge Lynden at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lynden will roll in looking for their 21st straight victory, something Sehome surely won't give up without a fight.
