Basketball Recap: Onaga Takes a Loss

Onaga was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 75-44 loss at the hands of the Hanover Wildcats. The Buffaloes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.

When it comes to explaining why Onaga lost, don't look at Jackson Kolterman. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-17 on his way to 20 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Kolterman a new career-high. Casen Hutfles was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Onaga was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 13 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Hanover got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Bruna out in front who went 6-for-10 to rack up 17 points and three steals. Bruna has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Meyn, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Onaga's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Hanover, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

Onaga has already played their next contest, a 55-23 loss against Valley Heights on the 21st. Hanover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
