Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln-Way West vs. Sandburg

The Lincoln-Way West Warriors will face off against the Sandburg Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lincoln-Way West's offense. They fell 2-0 to Andrew on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lincoln-Way West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Andrew are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Sandburg was forced to settle for a draw. They and Plainfield Central finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

Lincoln-Way West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Sandburg's draw makes their record 3-0-1 this season.

Lincoln-Way West took their win against Sandburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
