Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Key Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Somerset Academy Key took on Pine Crest on Thursday. The Somerset Academy Key Lions fell 69-57 to the Pine Crest Panthers. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Somerset Academy Key lost, don't look at Kemsy Ogala. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reggie Fleurissaint, who posted 13 points, to go along with five boards and four steals.

Pine Crest was led to victory by Rowan Hoffman and Ethan Mott. Hoffman dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds, while Mott almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Those 21 boards gave Hoffman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karl Mullins, who had eight points.

Somerset Academy Key now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Pine Crest, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Somerset Academy Key didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-42 win against Somerset Prep on the 6th. As for Pine Crest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-44 victory against Elite Academy on the 6th.
