After a string of 12 wins, DeSoto Central's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 70-60 to the Horn Lake Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 64-50 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

DeSoto Central's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-5. As for Horn Lake, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

DeSoto Central and Horn Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. DeSoto Central (ranked 11th) will meet Hernando (ranked 214th) at 7:15 p.m. on January 17th. Similarly, Horn Lake will take on Oxford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 45 places (20 vs. 65).
