Baseball Game Preview: Andrew Thunderbolts vs. Lockport Porters

The Andrew Thunderbolts are taking a road trip to square off against the Lockport Porters at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Andrew 3.7, Lockport 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Andrew is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Morris, who was ranked 12th at the time (Andrew was ranked 21st). The Thunderbolts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Redskins on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunderbolts have posted since March 22nd.

Meanwhile, Lockport didn't have quite enough to beat Montini Catholic on Wednesday and fell 5-4.

Lockport got a good showing from Jeffrey Bruining, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bruining has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lockport saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Kundrat, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Matt Fox was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Lockport's loss dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Andrew, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 21-11.
