Basketball Recap: Holden Comes Up Short

Holden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sherwood Marksmen. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-45 two weeks ago.

Holden's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Sherwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holden will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. After both having extra time off, Sherwood and Clinton will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
