Baseball Recap: Wilmot Victorious

Wilmot had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees by a score of 6-1. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered an 8-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Mason Lang looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Wilmot saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chance Ruby, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Ruby has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Ryan Watson, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Zion-Benton is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Wilmot will face off against Kettle Moraine at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Zion-Benton, they will challenge Tinley Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Zee-Bees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
