Basketball Recap: Robert C. Byrd Takes a Loss

If Robert C. Byrd was feeling good fresh off their 80-52 takedown of Keyser last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Robert C. Byrd Eagles took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Doddridge County Bulldogs on Saturday.

It was another big night for Landon Thomas, who posted 21 points and seven boards for Doddridge County. Those 21 points gave Thomas a new career-high. Heston Hayes was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Robert C. Byrd's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Doddridge County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Robert C. Byrd has already played their next contest (against Lincoln), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Doddridge County will head out on the road to challenge Tyler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Doddridge County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Tyler likes a good challenge.
