Football Recap: Emerson Mallon Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Manitou Springs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Denver West, Prospect Ridge Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-11 victory over the Manitou Springs Mustangs. For the Miners, this counts as revenge for the 41-6 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Prospect Ridge Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emerson Mallon out in front who threw for 130 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. What's more, Mallon racked up 125 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

Prospect Ridge Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Josh Ranjit and Jason Ranjit.

The win got Prospect Ridge Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Manitou Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prospect Ridge Academy will take on Jefferson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Manitou Springs, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
