Basketball Recap: Wheatland Takes a Loss

Wheatland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 56-29 loss at the hands of the Lincoln Fighting Zebras. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-13.

Lincoln's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Butler, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and six blocks. Butler is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Neely, who put up ten points and seven steals.

Wheatland's record now sits at 6-19. As for Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland will venture away from home to take on Bear River at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bear River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.1 points per game this season. As for Lincoln, they will head out to square off against Marysville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Marysville likes a good challenge.
